Searching for part of a Christmas present, Susan and I yesterday had the misfortune to stumble into Toys ‘R Us. This is the bad side of Christmas, in full soul-destroying glory. Harrassed parents, filling trollies with monstrous plastic crud, such as the Hummer Remote Control Car which is over 2 feet long, or the Barbie Magical Cloud Kingdom Playset. You just know that on Boxing Day, little Jimmy is going to drive his Hummer into little Jenny’s Cloud Kingdom Playset, and extortionately priced plastic is going to fly everywhere, closely followed by tantrums and tears. Please, for your own sanity, avoid Toys ‘R Us at all costs between now and…forever. This is all before I even start on the monstrous harm done to the English Language in that name.
