Wow. That was a blur. In comparison to elections back home, where results start coming out at midnight, and then straggle in for many an hour following, living on the West Coast and watching the results come in is a very different experience. A British Columbia Court ruled that it biased voting here if results from the decisive central provinces were known before polls closed in this province. So the Canadian news organisations were shut-down until 7 pm Pacific Time, and then, all at once, BOOM. The first 180 seats were already up and called. Within another 90 minutes, the election results process was, well, over. We knew within two or three seats what the distribution would be. So that was that. Election finished. Of course, finished for only so long. I suspect this minority Conservative government will be finding it pretty difficult to find too much to work on with any of the other parties. They will do their best to work with the Bloc, but for how long, and over how much? After that, there is little they will have in common with the NDP, and certainly the Liberals are not going to be keen on being their junior partner. Seeing as this was such fun, let’s do it again in, ohhh, six months or some such?
